U.S. fighter plane crashes in field near Benghazi: Libya

The two crew members of combat aircraft F-15E both ejected, suffering minor injuries.

One was quickly taken up by a U.S. military helicopter. The other is  safe  after being rescued by the rebels in Libya.

The U.S. forces tried to have recovered.

It is believed that the F-15E fighter aircraft came to earth after suffering a mechanical failure.

The U.S. military confirmed that one of its aircraft had landed, but said he had been shot.

Vince Crawley, spokesman for Africa Command of the U.S. military said a crew member was recovered and was  in recovery.

Crawley said the accident happened overnight.  He refused to give the location of the incident and do not say how the survivors were taken.

This is the first coalition aircraft crashed during the conflict in Libya after the third night of air strikes.

Later, the spokesman for the Department of Defense General John Lorimer, the operations are no longer Allied Assault Gaddafi in Benghazi in their tracks.
